NG - aka, the New Guy

and we're not talking about the movie The New Guy in which marni was an extra (#embarrassedtoadmit). we're talking about the new guy in the office.

NG joined us about two weeks ago. we really knew nothing of him when he was hired, other than the fact that he was an Aggie and a techie, so we decided to welcome him the only way we knew how:

Techie figurines and Aggie pride.

During our first family dinner with NG (his 2nd day), we asked him what we should know about him.

NG: well...um...ok...I'm the lead guitarist in a rock band.

marni: what?? seriously?
NG: um...yeah.
marni: what do you guys sound like?
NG: we're like a combination of 30 seconds to mars and blink 182
emily: really???
marni: so, do you sing in your band?
NG: yeah, sometimes
marni: ok...go ahead...give us a sample...
NG: {nervous laughter}
marni: do you wear rocker-y glasses when you play?
NG: um, no.
marni: do you paint your nails black?
NG: {laughs} No.
emily: what kind of clothes do you wear at your concerts?
NG: uhh....jeans and a t-shirt
emily: hm..

later we googled NG's band.

this is them:

they sound just like yellowcard! SO unexpected!

and then we found some of NG's solo stuff:

surprising song choices, but more along the lines of what we expected.

welcome to the office, NG, welcome to the office. :)

Farewell Juan

Juan. Child Genius. Resident StarTrek Nerd. Always Looming.

Well, Juan decided to call it quits. On life. Life at the office that is. He's going solo in doing the tech thing from home, back to the south. Blessed southland.

Here's what we'll miss:

Stealing his Battle Star Galactica Toys.

Blocking the entrance to his office.

Decorating his office.

Taking all of his trinkets and toys and putting them on the reception desk.

Playing Battlestar Gallactica with his Star Trek toys.

Putting his expensive computer parts in the trash.

Imitating his command control center.

The classic packing peanuts in the ceiling gag.

Spraying odorous cologne in the conference room.

Putting tiaras on the Space ship.

Sticky note city in his office.

Prank on Juan

Juan is our most beloved co-worker to prank, because he takes it the best. This time around, we poured day-old coffee into a glass and labeled it as coke. hehehehehehehehehehehehehe. He didn't fall for it. But we all had a good laugh....mostly just us :)

"A coke for our favorite co-worker! Enjoy!"

Breakroom Rules

Our dishes.

Our dishes love the countertop. So sue us!! Wait no. That's the exact opposite thing we want you to do.

Blast From The Past : Down Time

Once upon a time, we had nothing to do but build brochure towers. Oh how we miss those days.

Blast From The Past : Bad Omens

Marni has an debilitating fear of stepping on bananas.

Emily: Don't open the umbrella in here!! It's a bad omen!!
Marni: Emily, do you believe in Jesus or what???

Emily cleans out her purse, every 6 months. Not an omen. Just weird.

Blast From The Past : Stock Show

Once upon a time, our boss actually made us go to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in hopes of selling our product. This is our story in pictures.

trying to "fit in"

mmm...the smell of dung...

marni's first week on the job - "what did I get myself into???"
no one cared about what we were selling...

stock show types prefer the Can-Am Spyder
there were a few kind souls who humored us by at least pretending to be interested
